Amanda — The Listening Room

Therapy that holds space for your whole story

I'm Amanda, a qualified and registered counsellor with a genuine passion for creating safe, non-judgemental spaces where people feel truly heard. My approach is warm, collaborative and always shaped around you.

I work with adults of all ages — including young adults navigating the unique pressures of their twenties — as well as teenagers and children. I bring a down-to-earth, genuine approach to every session. All emotions are welcome here: your fears, your joys, your contradictions and everything in between.

I know that taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting — even scary. That's completely normal, and I want you to know there's no pressure, no judgement and no rush. You don't have to have the right words or know exactly what you need. Showing up is enough.

I work through a trauma-informed lens, holding space for the ways your past experiences shape who you are today — without ever pushing you further or faster than feels safe. I am deeply committed to working with cultural diversity, and bring genuine curiosity and respect to every background, identity and life experience. The Listening Room is also a place that warmly welcomes neurodiversity — I adapt how I work to meet you as you are, not as you think you should be.

I am committed to advocating for the young people and communities who need it most — and to showing up for those society too often overlooks.

Cibling Circle
A programme by The Listening Room Counselling

Cibling Circle

A therapeutic grief programme for young people aged 13–18 who have lost a sibling or close friend. A space where all grief is valid — blood or chosen.

"Not all siblings share the same blood. Cibling Circle welcomes both siblings and ciblings — because grief doesn't check your DNA. Whether you lost a blood sibling or your chosen one, your grief belongs here."

What is a cibling?

For many young people, their closest bonds are not defined by blood. Their best friend, their chosen sister, their ride-or-die — these are the people who know them completely. Losing them is real grief. We call them ciblings.

What is disenfranchised grief?

Grief that society does not always recognise, name or make space for. Young people who lose a close friend are often told to move on, or feel their grief isn't valid. Cibling Circle exists to change that.

Who is it for?

Young people aged 13–18 who have lost a blood sibling or close friend. Groups of 2–6. Delivered in schools, youth clubs or community venues. Available as a community programme or school crisis response.

The two strands

Community loss — open referral, young people united by grief.

School crisis response — activated after a traumatic loss event in a school community, where the group honours the same person.
